Danish Royal Easter Service Draws Attention to Prince Vincent's Remarkable Growth
The Danish royal family's traditional Easter celebrations became a focal point for royal enthusiasts, with particular attention directed toward Prince Vincent's noticeable height increase. Queen Mary of Denmark and King Frederik X attended the Easter mass service at Frederik's Church, commonly referred to as the Marble Church, located just a brief stroll across the palace square from their Amalienborg residence on April 5.
Family Outing Highlights Children's Development
The Australian-born queen and her husband were accompanied by their four children: Prince Christian, aged 20, Princess Isabella, also 20, and the 15-year-old twins, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine. The young royals were dressed in elegant, weather-appropriate attire, including blazers and coats, as they walked alongside their parents during the public appearance.
However, it was Prince Vincent who captured the spotlight, with observers noting that he appears to be the same height as, or possibly even slightly taller than, his father, King Frederik. This observation sparked a flurry of comments among royal watchers, who expressed amazement at the teenager's rapid growth.
Royal Watchers React to Height Comparisons
One enthusiast remarked, 'Vincent must eat his greens - well that and sport and fabulous genes. He really has grown the past few months. I absolutely love this family.' Another shared humorously, 'Vincent shot up. Those Aussie genes,' while others playfully suggested his growth spurt might be attributed to consuming the Australian staple, Vegemite on toast.
Beyond Prince Vincent, fans were equally stunned to see all four children looking notably mature. Comments included:
- 'These children have grown up so quickly! The boys are so tall.'
- 'My, they have grown up. Time flies.'
- 'Beautiful, we don't get to see a lot of them. The children are all grown up.'
Prince Christian is already noticeably taller than his father, prompting one fan to joke, 'Dad isn't short, but he tries to "walk tall" beside Christian.'
Genetic Explanations and Family Traits
Many attributed the children's stature to 'Aussie genes' from Queen Mary's side, while others pointed out that their grandmother, Queen Margrethe II, stands at an impressive 1.82 metres, suggesting Danish heritage also plays a role. Observers noted, 'Wow the children are so tall, like Queen Margrethe,' and 'Their Danish grandmother is very tall.'
Context of Recent Royal Visit to Australia
This public outing occurred shortly after Queen Mary and King Frederik's official visit to Australia. During a state banquet in Canberra on March 15, King Frederik delivered a deeply personal and emotional speech, reflecting on the moment he met his future wife at a pub during the Sydney 2000 Olympics.
Frederik, 57, recounted, 'For me, Australia has held a very special place in my heart ever since I slipped into that bar and lost it in a conversation that has never ended.' He explained how meeting Mary, 54, not only altered his life's trajectory but also connected two previously disparate nations.
The King elaborated, 'Once upon a time, Denmark perhaps did not resonate widely in Australia. Then something changed. In 2004, your Mary and I were married, and with that, Denmark once again had a Crown Princess. From that moment on, everyone "Down Under" knew of the Nordic country "up over".' He highlighted that their marriage 22 years ago meant Australians and Danes suddenly 'shared' a real Princess.
Frederik's heartfelt address also acknowledged the sacrifice Mary made by leaving her homeland to embrace her royal duties in Denmark. He expressed, 'Mary, you had the courage to leave your beloved home and build a new one with me as far away as one can possibly go. For that, I will be forever grateful.' Concluding, he added, 'Australia is our second home. Whether we come here for a family visit or a State Visit, we feel both excited and entirely at ease.'
