Prince Harry's Ex Chelsy Davy Would 'Hate Montecito Life', Expert Claims
Harry's Ex Chelsy Davy 'Would Hate Montecito Life'

A royal expert has delivered a scathing verdict on how Prince Harry's former girlfriend, Chelsy Davy, would have coped with his current life in California, claiming she would have despised the 'Montecito madness'.

The Relationship That Defined a Decade

The Duke of Sussex dated the Zimbabwean entrepreneur for five years between 2004 and 2009, a period that ended when Davy made the decision to break off the relationship. Following their split, Harry famously stepped back from royal duties in 2020 and relocated to the United States with his wife, Meghan Markle, to pursue a new life and career opportunities.

In stark contrast, Chelsy Davy remained in the UK, building her original careers in the jewellery and travel sectors from her home in Chiswick, west London. However, this week it was revealed that the 40-year-old is now preparing for a significant move with her husband, hotelier Sam Cutmore-Scott, and their two children to an island in the Indian Ocean, seeking a life away from the celebrity spotlight.

A Life She Chose to Avoid

In the wake of this news, friends and commentators have reflected on the vastly different path Davy's life would have taken had she remained with the Prince. Royal biographer Ingrid Seward, the editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine, did not mince her words.

"She would have hated it all, especially the Montecito madness that is now Harry’s life," Seward stated. She elaborated that while Harry was "utterly head over heels for that girl," Davy ended the relationship because she possessed "no ambition to better herself" by marrying into the monarchy.

This stands in direct opposition to Meghan Markle, who, after dating the Duke for less than two years, made the decision to marry him and embrace the associated life changes, including the move to Montecito.

Thriving in a New Chapter

Seward emphasised that Davy, like another of Harry's exes, Cressida Bonas, was intelligent enough to recognise that royal life was not for her. "She knew... that royal life just wasn’t for her. She was intelligent enough to see that from an early age," the expert said, recalling Davy's final words to Harry: "There’s no way this is ever going to be my future."

Since the breakup, Chelsy Davy has found happiness and success on her own terms. She married Sam Cutmore-Scott several years after her relationship with the royal ended, and friends have told the Daily Mail that the entrepreneur "has never been happier" as the family prepares for their new life in Mauritius.

One friend reflected on the stark contrast, noting, "It’s strange to think of the parallel life she would be living if she’d stayed with Harry. But that was a long, long time ago. That break-up was probably the best thing that ever happened to her." New photographs published this week show the couple exchanging vows on a beach and enjoying time with their young children, while her jewellery brand, Aya Jewels, is reported to be thriving.
