A lip-reading expert has lifted the lid on a private conversation between the Prince and Princess of Wales during a recent public appearance, revealing a rare glimpse into their candid dynamic.
The moment occurred as the royal couple attended the annual Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey earlier this month. While maintaining their trademark professionalism, eagle-eyed observers noticed what appeared to be a brief but meaningful exchange between William and Kate.
What the Royals Really Said
According to professional lip-reader Jeremy Freeman, who analysed footage of the event for The Mirror, the exchange went as follows:
- Kate appeared to say: "We need to talk about this later"
- William reportedly responded: "Not now, please"
- Kate then added: "It can't wait much longer"
Body Language Tells Its Own Story
Body language expert Judi James noted that while both royals maintained their composure, there were subtle signs of tension. "Kate's smile appeared slightly forced during this exchange, while William's jaw seemed clenched," James observed.
The brief interaction lasted no more than 15 seconds before both returned their attention to the ceremony, but it's sparked considerable speculation among royal watchers about what might be causing this apparent friction.
Palace Declines to Comment
Buckingham Palace has maintained its usual stance of not commenting on private conversations between members of the royal family. A spokesperson simply stated: "The Prince and Princess were honoured to attend the Commonwealth Day service and enjoyed participating in this important annual event."
This isn't the first time royal whispers have been decoded by lip-readers. Similar analysis was conducted during the infamous "Fab Four" walkabout at Windsor Castle following Queen Elizabeth II's funeral in 2022.
