Prince William has offered a rare insight into his domestic life with wife Kate, revealing that their bedroom is overflowing with paperwork from her early years research. During an appearance on Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden, the Prince of Wales spoke proudly of the Princess of Wales, admitting the family "couldn't cope without her."
A Glimpse into the Wales Household
William was asked about Kate's recent trip to Italy, her first official overseas visit since her cancer diagnosis and treatment in 2024. The trip to Reggio Emilia was a fact-finding mission for her early years project, and William revealed that Kate's dedication to research is evident at home.
"She wanted to do a lot of research, god knows how much time now looking through all the paperwork," William said. "She's a proper pro on early years, and most evenings I'm fighting to get past in the bedroom all the paperwork she's got lined up to read." He added that he was pleased the trip went well and that Kate returned "buzzing."
Tribute to Kate
Jamie Theakston asked William how happy he was that Kate's trip had been successful, especially given her health struggles. William paid heartfelt tribute, saying: "Very much so, she's an amazing mum and an amazing wife, and literally our family couldn't cope without her so she's been absolutely stunning."
Future Trips and Balancing Health
William hinted at more overseas engagements for Kate but stressed the need for balance. "She is kind of edging herself back into doing more and more of those trips," he explained. "Away trips like that take a lot out of you because you're on the permanent receiving end the whole time, so we have to balance that and make sure she's rested."
School Runs and Scones
The wide-ranging interview also touched on lighter topics. William joked about the school run, his love of dance music, and his adherence to the late Queen's rule for making scones: cream first, then jam. He revealed that his eldest son, Prince George, 12, sometimes boards at Lambrook School. When asked if he had a message for his children, William said: "Charlotte and Louis, because George is boarding last night, if you're listening, make sure you're on time, please. Make sure you're not fighting over who's listening to what this morning."
George's Boarding and Future School
George's school, Lambrook, offers flexible boarding for pupils aged 7 to 13. It had been thought the Wales children were day pupils, but this is the first indication that George sometimes boards. He is in his final term at Lambrook before moving to secondary school in September, though his destination has not been confirmed. If he follows his father to Eton, he would board full-time.
Taylor Swift Wedding Invitation
William also joked about a potential invitation to Taylor Swift's summer wedding to Travis Kelce. When asked, he initially said "no comment" before laughing and adding: "That feels like a showbiz excuse, but it's not. I'm hoping, and I'm sure there might be an invitation around, but we'll see." William previously took George and Charlotte to a Swift concert and introduced them backstage.
