Royal Mail Unveils Commemorative Stamps for Queen Elizabeth II's Centenary

Royal Mail has announced the launch of a special collection of 12 stamps to honour the centenary of Queen Elizabeth II's birth on 21 April. This release pays tribute to the late monarch's life and legacy, with eight stamps showcasing pivotal moments from her reign and a miniature sheet highlighting her personal passions.

Milestone Photographs and Personal Passions

The collection includes eight stamps that feature iconic photographs from key events in Queen Elizabeth II's life. These images capture significant milestones, such as her coronation in 1953 and her first radio broadcast in 1940, offering a visual journey through her historic reign. Additionally, a miniature sheet of four stamps is dedicated to her well-known affection for horses and dogs, depicting her with beloved pets and thoroughbreds.

Tribute to Duty and Private Interests

David Gold, Royal Mail's director of external affairs and policy, emphasised that these stamps serve as a tribute to the late Queen's unwavering commitment to duty and her private interests. He noted that the collection aims to celebrate both her public service and personal joys, reflecting the multifaceted nature of her life.

Availability and Pricing

The presentation pack containing all 12 stamps is priced at £22.50. It will be available for pre-order starting from 14 April, with general sales commencing on 21 April, coinciding with the centenary date. This release is part of Royal Mail's ongoing efforts to commemorate British heritage and significant national events.
