Netflix 2026 Slate Omits Wednesday & Ginny & Georgia, Sparking Fan Fury
Netflix 2026 slate disappoints fans over missing shows

Netflix subscribers across the UK have been left frustrated and disappointed after the streaming giant's preview of its 2026 content slate conspicuously omitted several major returning series. The announcement, made on January 7, failed to include any mention of a new season for the massively popular Wednesday or the fan-favourite drama Ginny & Georgia.

Missing in Action: The Shows Fans Are Waiting For

The absence of Wednesday is particularly notable, given that its second season, starring Jenna Ortega, only arrived in August 2025. Many had hoped for a swift continuation of the Addams Family story. Similarly, Ginny & Georgia, which aired its third season in June 2025 and was renewed for a third and fourth series back in 2023, was also missing. The show, featuring Brianne Howey and Antonia Gentry, now faces an uncertain timeline.

Newcomer Ransom Canyon, which premiered in April 2025, was also absent from the list, unlike fellow new titles Untamed and Forever. Netflix has stated that its 2026 slate is not a comprehensive list of all titles launching this year and that select announcements will follow later. However, this clarification did little to assuage upset fans.

Social Media Backlash and Fan Reactions

Disheartened viewers quickly took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to voice their complaints. One user lamented the 'insane wait time for new seasons,' while another criticised Netflix's apparent strategy: 'Netflix is sticking with the two-year gap between seasons... Let's see how this works out for them.'

Fans of Ginny & Georgia expressed concern over the ageing of the young cast, with one quipping, 'At this rate, Austin will be 30 years old when the series ends.' Another directed humour at Wednesday, stating, 'Jenna Ortega's gonna be like 30 when this show finally ends lol.' The frustration was palpable, with one subscriber declaring, 'I really should cancel my Netflix.'

What IS Coming to Netflix in 2026?

Despite the notable omissions, Netflix confirmed the return of several other major franchises. The spotlight for Bridgerton season four turns to Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson), with part one launching on January 29 and part two on February 26.

Virgin River season seven, starring Alexandra Breckenridge as Mel Monroe, arrives on March 12. The hotly anticipated second season of Beef premieres on April 16, and Sweet Magnolias season five returns on June 11.

In the realm of fantasy, Avatar: The Last Airbender season two is confirmed for a 2026 release, though without a specific date. On the film side, Enola Holmes 3 is slated for a summer release, promising a new Maltese adventure for the detective.

While the wait continues for some, Netflix's 2026 schedule promises a mix of returning hits and new adventures, leaving fans to hope that official news on their favourite absent shows is just around the corner.
