Fans of the lavish Regency-era drama Bridgerton have been given a tantalising hint that the show's universe is set to expand once again. During the buzz surrounding the season four premiere, a key Netflix executive confirmed that an announcement regarding a brand new spin-off series is 'coming soon'.
Verica Teases New Projects in the Pipeline
The exciting news came directly from Tom Verica, an executive producer and director on the hit Shondaland series. In an interview with Deadline on January 14, Verica reflected on the success of the 2023 limited series Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, which was nominated for multiple awards and won a Primetime Emmy.
"With Queen Charlotte, we thoroughly enjoyed that experience," Verica stated. "It was a smaller look at a particular love story... and I think we caught something that people really responded to." He went on to reveal that the team is actively exploring new avenues, saying, "We are in talks of some other projects, hopefully, something, some news will be coming out at some point, hopefully."
When pressed for specifics, Verica remained coy but offered a juicy clue for dedicated fans. "I will say this, there have been characters that you’ve met before, ones that you are invested in," he teased, hinting that the next spin-off will focus on familiar faces from the main series.
Fans Speculate on Potential Storylines
Following the interview, the Bridgerton fandom erupted with theories and fervent wishes on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). Many are championing a series centred on popular couples from the flagship show.
One fan passionately argued for a spin-off featuring Kate and Anthony Bridgerton (played by Simone Ashley and Jonathan Bailey), while others suggested a prequel exploring the love story of Violet and Edmund Bridgerton. This latter idea could potentially draw from author Julia Quinn's novella Violet in Bloom, part of The Bridgertons: Happily Ever After collection.
Verica acknowledged the wealth of material available, noting, "The great thing about having a cast this size is that there’s a lot of stories to dive into." He assured fans that the projects currently under discussion would be "really enjoyable."
A Franchise Set to Run and Run
The confirmation of further spin-off talks underscores the immense and enduring popularity of the Bridgerton franchise on Netflix. With the core series already renewed for seasons five and six, the streaming giant is clearly investing in the long-term future of Quinn's romantic world.
The upcoming fourth season, which premieres in two parts on January 29 and February 26, 2026, will adapt the third novel, An Offer From A Gentleman, focusing on Benedict Bridgerton's romance with Sophie Beckett.
For now, viewers must wait for official confirmation on which characters will lead the next spin-off. However, with the proven success of Queen Charlotte and a deeply engaged fanbase, any new extension of the Bridgerton universe is likely to be met with eager anticipation.
