Alan Carr Teases 'More Bonkers' Return for BBC's Interior Design Masters

Television personality Alan Carr has shared exciting details about the upcoming seventh series of the BBC programme Interior Design Masters, promising it will be "more bonkers" than ever before. The broadcaster has officially confirmed the return of the popular show, which tasks novice designers with redecorating various rooms in a competition to win the chance to design their own homewares range.

Bigger, Bolder, and Full of Surprises

In a recent announcement, Carr expressed his enthusiasm for the new series, stating: "It's bigger, bolder, and quite frankly more bonkers and I'm here for it!" He highlighted that the show maintains its dedicated following by not changing too much, but assured viewers there will be a few surprises along the way. Carr, who also stars in Celebrity Traitors, emphasized his love for the diverse personalities, design hacks, and dramatic transformations that define the programme.

Challenges and Standout Moments

The seventh series will feature ten designers tasked with reimagining eight distinct spaces, ranging from beach huts to castle hotels. Carr hinted at numerous "standout moments" but noted that things do not always go as planned for the contestants. He shared an amusing anecdote: "One designer stencilled the outline of countries onto a wall in an off-white, greyish colour. I innocently mentioned they looked a bit like damp patches - well let's just say they soon got painted over. Maybe I can be a bit too honest sometimes!!"

A Proud Host and Talented Contestants

Working alongside judge Michelle Ogundehin, Carr described feeling like a "proud dad" after fronting the show. His favourite part of presenting is getting to know the designers and witnessing their post-show successes. He cited examples such as Amy designing wallpaper for his house, Peter sending a rug from his new collection, Banjo landing his own TV show, and Mollie collaborating on a project with Matthew Williamson. Carr remarked: "It's so lovely to see all this talent being used – I feel like a proud dad!"

Confident New Series with High Talent

Judge Michelle Ogundehin added that the new series "feels more confident than ever". She praised the high level of talent and the range of perspectives showcased, noting: "You're not just seeing people decorate, you're seeing how differently people think about space, and how those decisions play out under real pressure." The series continues to highlight the creative process and challenges of interior design under tight constraints.

Interior Design Masters will air on the BBC, bringing fresh design challenges and entertaining moments to audiences eager for its return. With Carr's charismatic hosting and Ogundehin's expert judging, the show promises to deliver another season of innovative transformations and engaging television.
