The beloved comedy Amandaland is set to return to screens for its second season. The hit Motherland spin-off is coming back to the BBC, with Lucy Punch reprising her leading role as divorcee Amanda.
What is the plot of Amandaland season 2?
The latest instalment finds Amanda still living in SoHa (South Harlesden) and raising her teenagers, Georgie and Manus. She also works on her online Senuous brand and her co-lab at Kitchen's Bathrooms and Kitchens. The official synopsis adds: "Resigned to staying in the area, she is however thrilled by the opening of a hipster coffee shop which to her mind represents a step towards gentrification. By mid-series, Amanda's head has been turned by discovering a big house in the area is up for sale. Desperate to own it, she turns to her mother - only to discover that getting Felicity on board financially comes at a price. Her mum may seem evergreen, but is definitely starting to show signs of ageing, so maybe living alone is no longer an option."
When will Amandaland season 2 be released?
The first episode of season two is set to premiere on BBC One tonight (Wednesday, May 6) at 9pm. If you cannot wait until then, you can binge the entire series on BBC iPlayer.
Who is in the cast of Amandaland season 2?
Lucy Punch returns as Amanda, alongside Joanna Lumley as Felicity, Philippa Dunne as Anne, Samuel Anderson as Mal, and Ekow Quartey as JJ. Siobhán McSweeney's character, Della, is off working on a cruise so is not seen as much, but her partner Fi (Rochenda Sandall) is still prominently featured. There are also new faces joining the gang, including Harriet Webb as Abs, Mal's no-nonsense ex, and Pam Ferris as Amanda's frail neighbour who owns the most desirable house on the street. As well as Amanda's chaotic life, the new series will also chronicle Mal's unlikely bromance with Abs's new husband JJ, while Fi starts to find her calling as a professional dog walker. And of course, Anne remains Amanda's loyal and long-suffering best friend, as they all navigate the challenges of parenting teenagers through exams, relationships and, for the season finale, the school prom.
