Chris Hughes Dropped from BBC Cricket Presenting Role

Chris Hughes has been dropped from his role as a presenter on the BBC's coverage of The Hundred, according to reports. The former Love Island star had been part of the presenting team for the cricket competition since its launch in 2021, but will not return for the 2024 edition, which begins on Tuesday.

A BBC spokesperson told The Sun: "Chris has done a good job for four years, but we’re going in a different direction. There will be more focus on the cricket this year, rather than promoting the Hundred as an entertainment show." Former England cricketers Alex Hartley and Isa Guha will lead the presenting team, with Radio Five Live's Rick Edwards taking over Hughes' role.

This is the second sports presenting role Hughes has lost in recent months. In April, he left ITV Racing after six years, reportedly due to a pay dispute. Hughes' cricket presenting career was previously marred by controversy in 2023, when he was formally reprimanded by the BBC for telling a female cricketer she was "like a little Barbie" on air.

Hughes first found fame on Love Island and has since appeared on several reality shows, most recently Celebrity Big Brother, where he met his current girlfriend, JoJo Siwa. The BBC and Sky Sports share TV rights for The Hundred.
