Kym Marsh, the Coronation Street actress known for playing Michelle Connor, has been left 'upset and shocked' after intimate photographs of her were leaked online by hackers. The images, believed to be very old, reportedly surfaced on Twitter and a pornographic blog dedicated to stolen celebrity images, having been sourced from an iCloud hack in April.
A source told The Mirror: 'It's very upsetting for Kym and has come as a huge shock as they are clearly private photographs that should never have been put into the public domain. The person who has put them out there has committed a criminal offence. The pictures are very old and she has no idea how anyone got hold of them.' Kym is expected to take legal action and is determined to help find those responsible.
Despite the incident, the 40-year-old refused to let it spoil her greatest night at the British Soap Awards on Saturday, where she won the Best Female Dramatic Performance award. During the ceremony, she moved the audience to tears by dedicating her speech to her late son Archie, who was born prematurely at 21 weeks in 2009. Her character Michelle and husband Steve McDonald lost their baby son Ruari in a storyline Kym found particularly difficult to portray due to her own experience.
Speaking about the storyline on Lorraine last month, she said: 'Obviously at times I was transported back to a place I was trying to get away from. I was told there was no way I HAD to do the stillbirth storyline. But I chose to do it because it might help someone who went through something similar. And so many people said it helped.'
