Dutton Ranch, the newest addition to Taylor Sheridan's Yellowstone universe, has shattered streaming records on Paramount+. The series, starring Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser, premiered its first two episodes on 15 May and amassed 12.9 million views on Paramount+ within its debut week, marking the platform's most successful original series launch ever.
Record-Breaking Debut
The show's premiere on Paramount Network also drew 2.9 million live-plus-same-day viewers on its opening night, representing the largest new cable series premiere since 2023. This dual-platform success underscores the enduring popularity of the Yellowstone franchise.
Critical Acclaim and Behind-the-Scenes Changes
Dutton Ranch is the fourth instalment in the Yellowstone saga, following 1883, 1923, and Marshals. It currently holds an 88 per cent critics score on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite its positive reception, the series experienced creative upheaval behind the scenes. Original creator Chad Feehman reportedly departed due to clashes, prompting Taylor Sheridan to hand creative control over to the lead actors.
The spin-off continues to expand the Yellowstone narrative, focusing on the Dutton family's legacy in the American West. With its record-breaking viewership, Dutton Ranch solidifies the franchise's dominance in the streaming landscape.
