Kim Fox (Tameka Empson) is set to find herself caught in an impossible situation next week in EastEnders as she continues hiding a huge secret from sister Denise Fox (Diane Parish). Denise has been struggling while receiving treatment away from Walford, leaving her family worried about how she’s coping. But while Kim desperately wants to support her sister, she’s also carrying a secret that could change everything.
Sheila Atkins’ Growing Influence
The drama stems from Sheila Atkins’ (Sheila Ruskin) growing involvement with Denise’s family. This week, viewers saw Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams) become anxious after accepting financial help from Sheila. Although the support initially seemed well-intentioned, alarm bells started ringing when Sheila appeared determined to keep herself involved in Jordan Fox’s (Jahsaiah Williams) life. After buying the wheelchair Jordan desperately needed and hinting she could provide even more financial support in the future, Sheila’s influence quickly became impossible to ignore.
The situation left Kim and Howie Danes (Delroy Atkinson) demanding answers, eventually forcing Chelsea to admit where the money had come from. Meanwhile, Denise remained isolated during treatment, completely unaware of the growing drama unfolding back home.
Kim’s Guilt-Ridden Visit
Next week, Kim continues avoiding Denise, terrified that the truth about Sheila could accidentally slip out. The last thing she wants is to add more stress to her sister’s life while she’s already dealing with so much. However, Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) soon realises that Kim can’t keep avoiding Denise forever. Encouraging her to do the right thing, he pushes Kim to finally visit her sister. Wracked with guilt, Kim agrees and heads to see Denise. But despite their emotional reunion, Kim keeps quiet about Sheila’s involvement and hides everything she knows. The visit leaves Kim feeling even worse, knowing she’s keeping such a major secret from her own sister.
Confronting Sheila
Back in Walford, the situation with Sheila becomes even more worrying. Determined to find out exactly what she’s up to, Kim and Howie confront Sheila about her intentions. While Sheila insists she only wants what’s best for Jordan, her actions continue to raise suspicion. Later, Sheila manages to make herself useful after overhearing Ian Beale’s (Adam Woodyatt) defence strategy while at Knight Fusion. Armed with valuable information, she relays what she’s learned and earns herself further access to Jordan as a result. But for Kim, that’s exactly the problem.
Mounting Pressure
With Sheila becoming increasingly involved in the family’s lives, Kim starts to fear what Denise will eventually return home to. Every day that passes gives Sheila another opportunity to strengthen her position, and Kim knows the truth can’t stay hidden forever. The pressure begins mounting as Kim struggles to balance protecting Denise with being honest with her. As Sheila’s connection to the family grows and Gray Atkins (Toby-Alexander Smith) continues pulling strings from prison through updates about Jordan, Kim may soon find herself forced into a difficult decision. Will she finally come clean to Denise about what’s been happening behind her back? Or could keeping the secret end up causing even bigger problems when Denise eventually discovers the truth for herself?
