EastEnders Star Nicola Mitchell's Real Accent Stuns Fans

EastEnders actress Laura Doddington, who plays Nicola Mitchell, has left fans astonished after her real accent was revealed in a TikTok interview. Unlike her character's cockney twang, Doddington speaks with a refined, well-spoken voice, prompting viewers to praise her acting skills.

Laura joined the BBC soap in 2024 as the former wife of Teddy Mitchell (Roland Manookian) and mother to Harry (Elijah Holloway) and Barney (Lewis Bridgeman). Her character quickly became embroiled in dramatic storylines, including blazing rows, bitter feuds, and even a confession to murder.

In recent episodes, Nicola gave birth to baby Ivy, whom she shares with George Knight (Colin Salmon). However, due to Ivy's premature arrival and vulnerability to infections, Nicola has been kept apart from her daughter, leading to emotional scenes in Monday's episode (April 6).

Fans commenting on the TikTok video expressed their surprise, with one writing: 'Oh my god she sounds so different.' Another said: 'Her natural accent is so posh, showing what an amazing actress she is.' A third added: 'She is so well-spoken and seems like such a delight.'

Laura previously expressed her delight at joining EastEnders, saying: 'I still can't believe I've joined EastEnders – I keep pinching myself! I grew up watching the show, so the first time I filmed in The Vic, I was like a kid at Christmas.'
