An acclaimed Australian actress has been captured on a television set in Clovelly, appearing nearly unrecognisable during filming. Georgie Parker, celebrated for her portrayal of Roo Stewart in the long-running series Home and Away, was observed shooting her upcoming mini-series titled Dalliance on a recent Thursday.
On-Set Appearance and Activities
The double Gold Logie recipient, aged 61, seemed completely at ease as she paused by the waterfront during a brief intermission in production. With her lengthy brunette hair flowing freely, the All Saints star donned an aqua-coloured jacket fastened over what looked to be a black swimsuit. Clutching a set of goggles, the actress, who wore no makeup, eventually took a plunge into the water, all while boom microphones dangled overhead.
Strolling barefoot across the set, Georgie was also photographed deeply engaged in discussion with a colleague from the crew, soaking up the sunshine. Her relaxed demeanour and active participation highlighted her return to professional acting following a significant health hiatus.
Recovery from Hip Replacement Surgery
This sighting comes over a year after Georgie temporarily stepped away from her career to recuperate from her second hip replacement operation within a six-year span. In June 2024, she publicly shared images of herself in hospital recovery, posing with crutches and chronicling her post-surgical progress. At that time, she noted she was three weeks into her rehabilitation programme.
Georgie, whose extensive credits include roles in A Country Practice and Play School, expressed optimism about resuming work soon and extended gratitude towards her family for their unwavering support. She elaborated, "I've been busy. Finishing a play and then straight into another theatre for a new hip. My second in six years, and thank god I had the same brilliant surgeon and his team. I hate the drugs but love the rehab."
She added, "I'm three weeks post-op, recovery is going well and I've had the most brilliant support from my family, my workplace and my incredible friends. Practising patience now while I heal... so I can get back to work baby."
Underlying Health Condition
Georgie's hip complications originate from scoliosis, a spinal curvature disorder she was diagnosed with at thirteen years old. The actress previously discussed her condition after undergoing her initial hip replacement in 2018. She explained to Body+Soul in 2020, "Every scoliosis is different, it's like a fingerprint - but mine is all in the torso, I've lost about three inches in height."
In a 2017 interview with Now To Love, she remarked on managing the associated pain and stiffness, stating, "It's endless work, but I'm up for a challenge. It impacts me on a daily basis and I just have to stay fit to keep my back as functional as possible. I've never resented having scoliosis and it's made me realise how lucky I am that, while I have this significant challenge, I can still live my life pretty much how I want to."
Her resilience and positive outlook have evidently propelled her back into the spotlight, with the Dalliance project marking a triumphant return to the screen after her health battles.
