In a landmark television event, the fictional worlds of Coronation Street and Emmerdale are set for a spectacular collision. Dubbed 'Corriedale' by fans, the unprecedented crossover will air in a special hour-long episode on Monday night at 8pm on ITV and ITVX.
A Catastrophic Crash Unites Two Soap Universes
The dramatic plot centres on a terrifying multi-vehicle pile-up that brings characters from Weatherfield and the Yorkshire Dales together. Beloved figures including David Platt, Tracy Barlow, Liam Cavanagh, and Aaron Dingle will find their lives entangled by the catastrophic, life-changing encounter. ITV has promised viewers an episode packed with high-stakes drama, long-buried secrets, devastating lies, serious injuries, and the potential for fatalities.
Filming for this unique project took place over three weeks in October, featuring an intensive 12-night shoot on a disused road near Harrogate, Yorkshire. While the on-screen action is fraught with peril, behind-the-scenes snaps released by ITV show a very different atmosphere. The actors, clad in colour-coded dry robes—blue for Emmerdale and red for Corrie—were all smiles between takes, bonding warmly despite their characters' grim circumstances and sporting gruesome fake wounds.
Cast Revel in "Fantastic Atmosphere" of Historic Shoot
Speaking about the experience, Danny Miller, who plays Aaron Dingle, expressed his excitement. "The night shoots were a lot of fun and it's been great working with the Corrie team," he said. "I can't wait to see how the episode plays out... It’s going to be epic and every soap fan's dream."
Julia Goulding, portraying Shona Platt, highlighted the camaraderie that developed during the challenging night shoots. "There was such a fantastic atmosphere on set," she revealed. "It was really special to be able to work with the Emmerdale cast and crew... We kept the energy levels high with coffee and lots of sugary sweets!"
A One-Off Event with Explosive Aftermath
Despite fan hopes for a longer-term fusion, executive producer Iain MacLeod has confirmed this is a standalone event. He explained that while bringing the soaps together for this special is "brilliant," their distinct tones and storytelling styles mean there are "no plans to do anything similar in the future."
The drama, however, is only beginning with the crash itself. A pulse-racing 30-second trailer hints at the chaos to come, showing Emmerdale's Kit Green taking charge and a frantic Carla Connor trying to calm others. Scenes also reveal paramedic Jacob Gallagher tending to an injured David and Shona Platt, while Aaron's ex-husband Robert Sugden searches desperately in the dark. With two pregnant women—Shona Platt and Charity Dingle—caught up in the crisis, the aftermath is teased to unleash fear, murderous intent, death, destruction, and closely-guarded secrets that will ripple through both communities.
