Joan Cusack made a triumphant return to the red carpet on Thursday, marking her first such appearance in 11 years. The 63-year-old actress attended the London premiere of her latest film, Toy Story 5, held at the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square.
A Stylish Comeback
The Shameless star looked effortlessly chic, donning a white button-up shirt tucked into a long, high-waisted black skirt. She accessorised with a silver watch and a pair of eyeglasses, while her short brunette hair was styled in a bob with bangs parted down the middle.
Role in Toy Story 5
Cusack reprises her voice role as the beloved cowgirl toy Jessie in Pixar and Disney's new animated sequel. The film is set to hit theatres on June 19. The two-time Oscar nominee, who is also the sister of actor John Cusack, last walked a red carpet in September 2015.
Co-Stars and Family
At the premiere, Cusack posed with co-stars Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, the voices behind Woody and Buzz, respectively. She was also joined by her husband, Richard Burke, whom she married in 1996. The couple shares two sons: Dylan John Burke, 28, and Miles Burke, 25. Burke is the CEO of Envoy, a company that assists American businesses with visa arrangements for international employees.
Cusack also mingled with other collaborators, including co-star Greta Lee, director Andrew Stanton, and producer Lindsey Collins.
A Quieter Life
For the past 15 years, Cusack has stepped away from the Hollywood spotlight in favour of a more private life. She and her husband reside in Chicago, where she owns a gift shop named Judy Maxwell Home. The shop is named after Barbra Streisand's character in the 1972 film What's Up Doc?, which happens to be Cusack's favourite movie.
Career Highlights
Cusack rose to fame in the 1980s with roles in Working Girl (1988) and In & Out (1997), earning two Academy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actress. Her other notable credits include Addams Family Values (1993), School of Rock (2003), and the television series Shameless, for which she won a Primetime Emmy Award.
