Netflix Fans Outraged as The Lincoln Lawyer Ends After Season 5
Netflix Fans Outraged as The Lincoln Lawyer Ends

Netflix has quietly confirmed that one of their most popular series, The Lincoln Lawyer, will conclude with its upcoming fifth season. The legal drama, based on Michael Connelly's bestselling novels, returned for its fourth instalment earlier this year and quickly became one of the most-watched titles on the platform. Days before the season premiere, Netflix had already greenlit a fifth outing for Mickey Haller and his team.

Filming for the new season reportedly began around March 2026, but fans were unaware it would be the final chapter. The show follows idealistic lawyer Mickey Haller, who operates out of the back of his Lincoln Town Car, taking on cases big and small across Los Angeles. Season five will consist of the standard 10 episodes and will adapt Resurrection Walk, the acclaimed seventh novel in Connelly's series.

Creators Confirm Bittersweet Ending

Series creator and co-showrunner stated: “All good things must come to an end, but thankfully sometimes how they come to an end is up to us.” Co-showrunner and executive producer Dailyn Rodriguez added: “From the very beginning, the mission was always not only to tell the story of Mickey Haller and his compatriots, but also to give that story a proper conclusion. And while it is, of course, bittersweet, it’s also an amazing opportunity to bring this adventure to a close and perhaps chart a new course for some of our characters into the future.”

They both concluded: “We are immensely grateful to Netflix and A+E Studios for the opportunity to land this plane the right way. But most of all, we are grateful to the fans all around the world for watching and supporting the show. We promise you, we are right now building a final season that will provide the satisfying finale Mickey Haller deserves. We can’t wait to share it with you!”

Fans React to Cancellation

The Lincoln Lawyer joins a growing list of shows cancelled by Netflix in 2026, including The Abandons, Terminator Zero, and With Love, Meghan. While some series like Emily In Paris are being allowed to end their stories naturally, fans are taking the news of The Lincoln Lawyer's conclusion hard.

One fan posted on Netflix's subreddit: “Mixed feelings. Emily in Paris ending with Season 6 feels fair because there’s only so many times we can watch Emily bounce between another guy and another European city... Like, it needs to END. But The Lincoln Lawyer ending MAKES NO SENSE. They’ll keep milking something like Stranger Things for years, but a real solid show with loyal viewers gets wrapped up early? MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!”

Another agreed: “The Lincoln Lawyer deserves more seasons.” Someone else added: “Awful decision. It's the best show on Netflix.”

The Lincoln Lawyer is streaming on Netflix now.
