Dune fans have been given their first glimpse of the upcoming third instalment in the science fiction saga, with a collection of character posters unveiled for Dune: Part Three. The posters reveal key figures from the film, which is adapted from Frank Herbert's 1969 novel Dune Messiah.
Among the most anticipated reveals is Robert Pattinson's role as Scytale, a Tleilaxu Face Dancer and antagonist who conspires to overthrow Timothée Chalamet's Paul Atreides. In the source material, Scytale is a shapeshifter, and Pattinson's transformation for the role has left fans stunned.
Speaking to Variety about filming in extreme desert conditions, Pattinson remarked: "When I was doing 'Dune', it was so hot in the desert that I just couldn't question anything." He added that the experience was "so relaxing" and that he was "just listening" to director Denis Villeneuve's direction.
Director Denis Villeneuve has confirmed that Dune: Part Three will be the concluding instalment of his Dune series. He clarified that the film is not part of a trilogy, but rather a standalone project with its own identity. Villeneuve also indicated he does not plan to direct further Dune films, though he suggested the franchise could continue with another director.
Dune: Part Three is scheduled for cinema release on December 18, 2026. A teaser trailer is set to drop on March 17, 2025, at 4pm GMT via TikTok, as announced on the official Dune Instagram page.
