Filming has commenced for a new adaptation exploring the mysterious 1926 disappearance of Agatha Christie. Titled Eleven Missing Days, the noir thriller boasts an all-star cast led by Felicity Jones and Vincent Cassel.
Star-Studded Cast and Creative Team
Felicity Jones portrays Christie herself, while Vincent Cassel plays retired Belgian detective Jacques Pieters, a fictional investigator. The ensemble includes Ryan McParland as Surrey Constable William Kenward, alongside Alfie Allen, Ben Hardy, Stacy Martin, Nicole Elizabeth Berger, and Oliver Trevena. The screenplay is written by Ernesto Foronda, known for Better Luck Tomorrow, and directed by Bertie Ellwood, who directed episodes of Silo.
Based on Real Events
The film is adapted from Jared Cade's 1998 book Agatha Christie and the Eleven Missing Days, which examines the real-life investigation into the celebrated crime writer's vanishing. The synopsis states: "In December 1926, at the height of her fame, Agatha Christie became front-page news when she vanished in bizarre circumstances from her home. In a case of life imitating art, this whodunnit explores the investigation behind her disappearance, strangely resembling an Agatha Christie novel itself where everyone in her life became a suspect."
Historical Context
Christie's disappearance triggered a massive search operation and intense media attention. She was found 11 days later at a hotel in Harrogate, where she had checked in under a different name. The case remains one of the most intriguing episodes in literary history.
