Joseph's School Report Sparks Concern
In upcoming Coronation Street episodes, Joseph Brown (William Flanagan) hands his school report to father Chesney (Sam Aston) and stepmother Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) before rushing off. The pair are shocked to discover Joseph is regularly late submitting homework, raising serious concerns about his academic progress.
Household Chaos Hinders Studies
Gemma later confides in her mother Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) that Joseph struggles to concentrate due to the constant noise and activity from his four siblings – quadruplets Aled, Bryn, Llio and Carys, born in 2019. Bernie proposes Joseph use her home as a quiet study space, which Chesney and Gemma gratefully accept.
Linda's Business Collapses
However, their relief is short-lived. Chesney delivers devastating news: Linda Hancock (Jacqueline Leonard), Joseph's grandmother, has seen her holiday rental venture in Portugal collapse. She can no longer afford the fees for Joseph's private school, leaving the family anxious about his future education.
Loan Considered Amid Financial Strain
Chesney reveals he's considering a loan to cover the fees, but Bernie is appalled at the idea of more debt given the family's already tight finances. By week's end, Gemma and Chesney tell Joseph that Linda has somehow scraped together the money for now. Yet the long-term stability of this funding remains uncertain.
Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV and ITVX.
