Gillian Anderson Thriller 'The Fall' Leaving Netflix

The critically acclaimed thriller The Fall, starring Gillian Anderson and Jamie Dornan, is set to leave Netflix on July 31, 2026. However, fans who have not yet finished the series can continue watching all three seasons on BBC iPlayer.

What Is The Fall About?

First broadcast on BBC Two in 2013, The Fall is set in Belfast and follows Detective Superintendent Stella Gibson, played by Gillian Anderson, who is brought in to investigate an unsolved murder. As more young women are killed, it becomes clear a serial killer is at large, and Gibson races to prevent further deaths. The killer is Paul Spector, portrayed by Jamie Dornan, a seemingly ordinary family man, leading to a tense cat-and-mouse game between the two.

Critical and Fan Reception

The series was created by Allan Cubitt, known for Prime Suspect, and was an instant hit. One IMDb user described it as "very scary and dark," adding it was "exceptionally well-written, directed, and acted." Another viewer called it "the best psychological thriller I've seen in ages." Anderson herself praised Cubitt's writing, stating, "He just intrinsically knows how to do that so the characters are unique and individual."
