Festival Plans for Waterside Farm
Manchester Event Catering Ltd, based in Leeds, is seeking a premises licence from Stockport Council to hold the Made in Manchester festival at Waterside Farm on Otterspool Road in Romiley. The festival is scheduled for August 28 to 31 and will feature tribute acts to Taylor Swift, Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson, ABBA, and the Stone Roses.
Now in its sixth year, the event aims to “celebrate the fantastic Manchester music scene” with “some of the best tributes to the iconic music of Manchester and some of the best local homegrown talent Greater Manchester has to offer,” according to the organisers.
Ticket Prices and Offerings
Tickets are already on sale, with the highest-priced family ticket for two adults and two children for the full weekend costing £130 plus a £13 booking fee, totalling £143. Infants enter for free, while children’s tickets are £12.50 plus a £1.25 booking fee. The festival promises a funfair, thrill rides, a food village, and live music.
Licensing Decision
Councillors will decide on the premises licence at a licensing meeting on July 7. The event will be held on Mill Lane field, a greenfield site next to Waterside Farm, which also hosts the weekly Big Stockport Car Boot Sale. The application details include live music outdoors, potential marquee use, street theatre, an outdoor and indoor bar, and food vendors selling soft drinks, hot food, and ice cream.
Proposed conditions from Greater Manchester Police and the council’s environmental health team have been submitted. Manchester Event Catering requests live music between 4pm and 11.30pm on August 28, midday to 11.30pm on August 29 and 30, and midday to 7pm on August 31. Recorded music and alcohol sales are also proposed for these times.
One local resident has raised concerns over public nuisance and public safety. The organisers state that the event will be managed by experienced professionals and that every child must be accompanied by an adult.
