Prince William and Harry 'will never reconcile' due to 'hurt' to Royal Family, says royal editor
William and Harry 'will never reconcile' over 'hurt' to royals

The Mirror's royal editor Russell Myers has declared that Prince William and Prince Harry are unlikely to ever reconcile, as the Duke of Sussex has caused irreparable hurt to the Royal Family. Appearing on ITV's Loose Women on July 1, 2026, what would have been Princess Diana's 65th birthday, Myers said Diana would be 'heartbroken' by their estrangement.

Myers: Relationship 'worst it's ever been'

Myers said: 'Make no mistake that their relationship is the worst it's ever been and I see no chance of a reconciliation. We've seen Harry speaking about wanting a reconciliation with his father, and there is a willingness from both sides to fix their relationship.' He added: 'William, Catherine and other members of the Royal Family feel deeply hurt by everything Harry has said in the past about the Firm.'

Harry has made several public attacks on the Royal Family, including the 2020 Oprah Winfrey interview, the 2021 Netflix docuseries, and his 2022 memoir Spare. As a result, the brothers have not spent time together since the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022.

Brothers continue Diana's legacy separately

Despite their rift, both princes have continued their mother's charity work independently. Harry recently visited Ukraine and Angola to highlight the dangers of landmines, continuing Diana's campaign. William marked three years of his Homewards homelessness project on June 30, 2026, and involves his children in the work. Myers said: 'William teaches the children that this is what life is like outside the Palace walls for so many people.'

Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told the Mirror that the brothers would mark Diana's birthday separately. She said: 'In the past, we have seen Harry and William coming together to honour their mother, even when their relationship was strained. But that's not going to happen this year. I'm sure they will each remember her in their own way.'
