Monster Rabbit Tipping the Scales at 21lb Resides in His Own Bedroom
In a remarkable display of pet pampering, a colossal Continental Giant rabbit named Junior, weighing a staggering 21lb, has outgrown traditional hutches and secured his very own dedicated bedroom. This hefty herbivore, also known as a German Giant, currently tips the scales equivalent to three chihuahuas, making him a true giant among domestic rabbits.
A Spoiled Duo Living in Luxury
Owner Lyn Hobson, a 66-year-old chef from Winteringham, Lincolnshire, openly admits that her floppy-eared companions are "spoiled." Far from a cramped garden hutch, Junior and his best friend, a tiny two-year-old Netherland Dwarf named Suzi who weighs just 1lb, enjoy their own private room in Lyn's three-bedroom home. This ensures they live in total comfort, wanting for nothing in their luxurious setup.
The pair's extravagant lifestyle includes a sandpit outside which they "absolutely love," along with tunnels for play. Lyn grows fresh food in her back garden, feeding them a range of vegetables to maintain their health and happiness.
Colossal Companion and His Tiny Friend
Junior's immense size is so pronounced that Suzi has been spotted snuggling up on the sofa and dozing off beneath one of his giant ears, using it as a makeshift furry duvet. This adorable contrast highlights the unique bond between the two rabbits, despite their vast difference in stature.
Lyn acquired Junior three years ago from a friend in South Shields, and since then, he has become a central figure in her household. His care routine is as extensive as his size; he requires brushing for 45 minutes every week, resulting in a "mountain" of hair that needs regular maintenance.
Football Fans and Life of Leisure
Beyond their physical needs, Junior and Suzi have developed distinct personalities and preferences. The pair cuddle up on the sofa to watch football, and they "support" Liverpool F.C., adding a touch of sports fandom to their daily routines. This playful aspect of their lives underscores how integrated they are into Lyn's home environment.
Their sandpit outside provides endless entertainment, while their dedicated bedroom ensures they have a safe and comfortable space to retreat to. Lyn's commitment to their well-being is evident in every detail, from the fresh garden produce to the personalized living arrangements.
This story of Junior and Suzi showcases the extraordinary lengths some pet owners go to ensure their animals live in luxury, challenging traditional notions of rabbit care and highlighting the deep bonds that can form between humans and their oversized companions.
