The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued multiple food recall alerts this week, urging shoppers to check their cupboards and fridges for affected products. The recalls, spanning from June 27 to July 4, involve items sold on Amazon, Ocado, and major supermarkets including Tesco, Sainsbury's, Morrisons, and the Co-op. Packaging errors have led to undeclared ingredients, posing risks to individuals with allergies or intolerances to gluten, soya, milk, and mustard.
Minton & Donello Organic White Orzo Recalled for Undeclared Gluten
Dundeis UK Ltd is recalling Minton & Donello Organic White Orzo (500g) with batch code 78850 and best before dates of January 31, 2027, May 2, 2027, and May 24, 2027. The product contains wheat (gluten) not listed on the label, making it a health risk for those with coeliac disease or gluten intolerance. The FSA advises: "If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten or with coeliac disease, do not eat it. Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund." The product was sold via Amazon and Ocado.
Capsicana Easy Going Mild Salsa Contains Barley and Mustard
Capsicana is recalling its Easy Going Mild Salsa (285g, batch code 6091, best before May 2027) due to undeclared barley (gluten) and mustard. This poses a risk to those with mustard allergies or gluten intolerance. The FSA instructs: "If you have bought the above product and have an allergy to mustard and/or an allergy or intolerance to barley or gluten, or with coeliac disease, do not eat it. Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund. No receipt required." The salsa was sold at Tesco, Sainsbury's, Morrisons, and the Co-op. SPAR Clayton Park Kitchen Chicken & Mushroom Sauce Recalled for Soya
SPAR UK is recalling Clayton Park Kitchen Chicken & Mushroom Sauce (440g, all use-by dates) because of undeclared soya, a risk for those with soya allergies. The FSA advises: "If you have bought the above product and have an allergy to soya, do not eat it. Instead, return the product to the store you purchased it from for a full refund."
Morrisons Maple & Bacon Back of the Net Contains Undeclared Milk
Morrisons is recalling its Maple & Bacon Back of the Net (140g, best before August 22, 2026) because some packs may contain milk not mentioned on the label due to a packing error. This poses a risk for those with milk allergies or lactose intolerance. The FSA states: "If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, do not eat it. Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund."
What to Do If You Have Purchased an Affected Product
The FSA recommends that consumers check batch codes and best-before dates, and return affected products to the point of purchase for a full refund. No receipt is required for some recalls. For further information, consumers can contact the respective companies. The FSA continues to monitor food safety and will issue updates as necessary.
