UK Heatwave Ends: Temperatures Drop 10C This Weekend

The Met Office has announced that temperatures will drop by as much as 10°C over the weekend, bringing relief after days of extreme heat. Following a sweltering period that saw amber and red warnings for extreme heat across the UK, Sunday is set to usher in fresher and cooler conditions.

Current Heat Warnings

Today (Friday) remains hot, with an amber warning for extreme heat in place for large parts of the country, including Greater Manchester, until midnight. A yellow warning for thunderstorms is active for northern England, Wales, and the southwest until 10pm. In parts of the southeast, a rare red warning for extreme heat is in effect until 9pm.

Temperatures in Greater Manchester are expected to reach around 32°C by early to mid-afternoon. After some rain earlier this morning, patchy showers, possibly thundery, to the north will move off through the morning, along with any high cloud.
