A seagull that became trapped inside Swansea Market for three days has finally escaped, bringing relief to concerned animal lovers and traders. The bird, which had been taking fish and other food items from stalls, was spotted flying high into the rafters of Wales's largest indoor market, beyond the reach of rescue attempts.
Concerns for Welfare
Growing concerns for the seagull's welfare emerged as discussions spread online, with animal lovers contacting market security, the RSPCA, and other organisations. Unsuccessful efforts had been made to lure the gull out of the market since at least Friday, using the loading doors as an exit point. The bird was observed peering through windows at the top of the market, seemingly searching for a way out.
Escape Confirmed
Fortunately, Swansea Council confirmed on Monday morning that the seagull had managed to find its own exit. A council spokesman said: “We’re happy to say the seagull is fine after its stay at the market and found its own way out Monday morning.” The bird's three-day ordeal has ended without the need for direct human intervention.
