Woman with dwarfism hits back at trolls telling her to 'date her own kind'
Woman with dwarfism slams trolls over boyfriend comments

A young woman with dwarfism has issued a powerful rebuke to online trolls who criticise her relationship with a taller man, condemning their 'close-minded' and hurtful comments.

Facing Daily Criticism and Cruel Remarks

Caitlin Hellyer, a 24-year-old content creator from Devon, has been in a relationship with her partner, Guy, 34, for over three years. Despite their happiness, the couple faces relentless scrutiny because of their significant height difference and age gap. Caitlin, who is 3ft 8ins tall, is subjected to daily comments where people accuse Guy of 'losing a bet' or liken her to a child.

"Every day I read comments implying it is wrong that we’re in a relationship," said Caitlin. "According to the haters’ opinions, my body resembles a child’s. Bearing in mind I have a 28FF chest and very womanly curves, it’s a ridiculous belief. I am a woman who happens to be 3ft 8ins tall."

She admitted that the cruel remarks have kept her awake at night, but emphasised that "love prevails above all". Caitlin firmly believes those who make such comments are out of touch, stating, "It’s 2026, and we have come a long way in terms of diversity."

Defining Her Own Dating Preferences

In response to a specific TikTok comment urging her to "date her own kind", Caitlin delivered a clear message. "People with dwarfism are human. We’re not 'a kind', we’re not aliens or fantasy characters - we are human beings," she asserted.

She explained that dating preferences are personal and valid for everyone. "Some people with dwarfism prefer to date other people with dwarfism... On the other hand, it’s perfectly OK for a person with dwarfism to date an average-height man or woman," she said. "I prefer to date an average-height man because that’s who I’m attracted to and bond with the most."

Caitlin rejected the idea that she should limit her dating pool because of her condition. "I’m not going to limit myself to dating within my condition because people say I have to... It is not wrong to be attracted to someone with dwarfism if you’re of average height."

Building a Future Together

The couple's story began in 2022 when Guy sent Caitlin a friend request on Facebook. After eight weeks, Caitlin responded, drawn by their shared interests and her attraction to him. They met in person soon after and have been inseparable ever since.

Looking ahead, the pair are set to move to the Isle of Man this spring, where Caitlin feels safer than in busier city environments. Regarding their future, they have made definitive choices: marriage and children are not part of their plan.

"I fought to be sterilised in 2023 and had my surgery in 2024," Caitlin revealed. "I chose to be sterilised because my body struggles with contraceptives, and I do not want children, as I don’t want the lifestyle or stress that comes with them. It is the best decision I have ever made."

Instead, the couple looks forward to a life of adventures with their miniature dachshund, Keith, firmly embracing the child-free lifestyle they have chosen for themselves.
