The Hardacres Returns for Uplifting Second Season on Channel 5

The beloved period drama The Hardacres is making a highly anticipated return this week for its second series on Channel 5. The new season, consisting of six episodes, premieres on Thursday, May 15. It continues the family's rags-to-riches story as they navigate their newfound wealth amidst sweeping social changes in the late 19th century.

Plot and Adaptation

The storyline picks up in 1895, following the Hardacres as they adjust to life after escaping poverty while dealing with the modern shifts transforming everyday society. Although not based on real events, the series is adapted from C.L. Skelton's popular 1970s novels, specifically Hardacre and Hardacre's Luck.

Cast and Crew

Claire Cooper and Liam McMahon reprise their roles as Mary and Sam Hardacre, joined by Julie Graham as Mary's mother, Ma. The new series introduces a fresh adversary in Lady Imelda Hansen, mother of their neighbor Emma. Returning cast members include Adam Little, Shannon Lavelle, and Zak Ford-Williams as the Hardacre children Joe, Liza, and Harry, along with Holly Sturton, Cathy Belton, Owen Roe, Ingrid Craigie, and Sarah Agha.
