Reality television personality Sophie Kasaei has candidly disclosed her emotional turmoil, describing feelings of misery and grappling with what is termed 'gender disappointment' regarding her expected baby boy, due to arrive this summer. The 36-year-old Geordie Shore star and her partner, 31-year-old Jordan Brooks, announced earlier this year that they are anticipating a son, following an elaborate gender reveal celebration.
Emotional Struggles After Fertility Battle
After enduring a challenging two-year fertility journey, Sophie fought back tears as she admitted to experiencing profound low moods and unhappiness. Speaking on her newly launched podcast, Shall We, alongside co-star Holly Hagan, the pair delved into the sensitive topic of gender disappointment, a phenomenon where expectant parents feel distress over the sex of their unborn child.
Sophie expressed her confusion, stating, 'This is everything I've ever wanted, why do I feel this low and miserable? I just don't like this feeling like I don't know what the hell I'm gonna do.' Reflecting on the gender reveal event, she added, 'This is just amazing and magical but then I was like, "There's blue".'
Support and Validation from Co-Star
Holly Hagan offered reassurance during the podcast discussion, affirming that gender disappointment is a legitimate and commonly discussed issue on social media platforms. Sophie responded by emphasising that individuals should not face criticism for such feelings, highlighting the need for understanding and empathy in these situations.
Partner's Health Crisis Adds to Stress
Compounding Sophie's emotional distress, her boyfriend Jordan Brooks is currently hospitalised due to a serious brain condition. The TOWIE star revealed over the weekend that he was admitted with swelling of the brain, describing his situation as a 'never ending hell' while awaiting medical results.
In a recent update, Sophie shared that she is now permitted to visit Jordan in hospital after it was confirmed his condition is not contagious. She posted on social media, 'As hard as this is I am finally allowed to see my Jords as there's nothing contagious. His strength is just amazing and we will get through this as a family. Thank you for all your well wishes we are all praying for a more positive day.'
Jordan's Hospital Ordeal and Public Appeals
Jordan himself has been providing updates from his hospital bed, posting a black-and-white image with the caption, 'Another day in paradise. Praying for a better one or some sort of miracle.' He detailed that he has confirmed inflammation and swelling of the brain, calling it a 'really scary time' that underscores human vulnerability.
Expressing his hopes for recovery, Jordan added, 'Hoping to rest up and be fighting fit and back home with my girl and bump, soon but at the minute seems a long way off.' He also apologised to work clients for any disruptions, noting his extreme weakness and inability to respond to all messages of support.
The couple's dual challenges—Sophie's pregnancy-related emotional struggles and Jordan's health battle—paint a poignant picture of resilience during a difficult period, as they navigate personal and medical hurdles while preparing for their new arrival.
