Bonnie Tyler's team has confirmed that the singer remains 'seriously ill but stable' in a Portuguese hospital, while her family has expressed disappointment over 'untrue rumours' circulating in the media. The 74-year-old star is in an induced coma in intensive care after her health deteriorated following emergency surgery for a burst appendix.
Her team issued a statement on Threads, saying: 'As of this morning Bonnie remains seriously ill but stable in hospital in Faro, however her doctors are still positive that she will make a full recovery.' They added that the family is 'very disappointed' at the 'lurid and untrue rumours' and clarified that Liberto Mealha, who appeared on Good Morning Britain, does not represent them.
Mealha, who claimed to be a friend of 40 years, told GMB he was 'praying to get better news' and described Tyler's health decline. However, Tyler's team stressed he is not in contact with the family and asked the media to cease speculation.
Earlier this month, Tyler's team announced she had been admitted for emergency intestinal surgery, which went well. The singer, who splits her time between Portugal and South Wales, is now under close medical supervision.
