Lady Gaga's Paris stroll after revealing psychotic break during Star Is Born
Lady Gaga in Paris after revealing psychotic break

Lady Gaga was spotted maintaining a low profile during a stroll through Paris on Friday, just a day before the final European performance of her highly anticipated Mayhem Ball tour.

The 39-year-old singer is in the French capital for her last gig at the Accor Arena on Saturday, which concludes the European leg before she travels to Australia.

Effortless Parisian Style Amid Personal Revelations

Gaga looked effortlessly chic for her day out in the city, choosing an oversized black sweatshirt paired with a black mini-skirt. She completed the ensemble with UGG mules and sheer knee-high socks, accessorising with sunglasses and a black bandana.

The pop icon was seen carrying her iPad and a takeaway coffee as she made her way into a taxi, presenting a picture of casual preparation for her upcoming performance.

The Dark Reality Behind an Oscar-Winning Performance

This Parisian outing comes shortly after Gaga revealed the troubling circumstances surrounding her Oscar-winning role in A Star Is Born.

She confessed to Rolling Stone that she was medicated throughout the filming of the 2018 blockbuster, which co-starred Bradley Cooper and earned eight Oscar nominations, including a Best Original Song win for their hit Shallow.

"I did A Star Is Born on lithium," Gaga frankly admitted. The drug is commonly prescribed for bipolar disorder to stabilise severe mood swings.

Soon after filming concluded, while on her Joanne tour, Gaga experienced what she described as a psychotic break.

"There was one day that my sister said to me, 'I don't see my sister anymore,'" she recalled. "And I cancelled the tour. There was one day I went to the hospital for psychiatric care. I needed to take a break. I couldn't do anything. I completely crashed."

Gaga described the experience as profoundly frightening, adding, "There was a time where I didn't think I could get better. I feel really lucky to be alive. I know that might sound dramatic, but we know how this can go."

Finding Peace and Love After the Storm

Now, Gaga credits much of her recovery to her fiancé, Harvard-educated entrepreneur Michael, who was first linked to her around New Year's Eve 2019 and proposed in April 2024.

"Being in love with someone that cares about the real me made a very big difference," she told the publication.

This period of self-discovery was challenging but ultimately transformative. "How do you learn how to be yourself with someone when you don't know how to be yourself with anyone?" she reflected.

After years of struggle, Gaga now considers herself "a healthy, whole person" and released her album Mayhem in March, which has been hailed as one of the greatest works of her career.

She explained the album's title by saying, "It was months and months and months of rediscovering everything that I'd lost. And I honestly think that's why it's called Mayhem. Because what it took to get it back was crazy."
