Davina McCall's Inspiring Boxing Workout After Breast Cancer Battle
Davina McCall has never been one to shy away from a sweaty workout session, and this week the beloved TV presenter threw herself into an energetic boxing routine with infectious enthusiasm. The 58-year-old shared a gruelling fitness clip on her Instagram page, showcasing her sculpted abs and ripped physique in a vibrant pink gym top and multicolour patterned leggings.
Energetic Display of Strength and Resilience
In the recent clip, Davina can be seen playfully punching towards the camera in a high-octane video that left fans both inspired and exhausted just from watching. The podcaster, who underwent surgery for breast cancer in November, looked every inch the fitness queen as she bounced around with remarkable energy.
'In my workout today I did @daniel_duckett_ I absolutely love x fight xxx I literally want to go and run a marathon now,' she captioned the post, demonstrating her characteristic positivity and determination.
Cancer Diagnosis and Emotional Journey
Just last month, Davina shared her reaction to being diagnosed with breast cancer months after a routine mammogram came back 'clear' - admitting it triggered a violent outburst when she got home. The host learned she had the disease in November last year after checking her breasts for lumps during a break from filming The Masked Singer at ITV.
Her diagnosis came nearly a year to the day of having a benign brain tumour removed, creating what she described as 'a difficult year' for both herself and her now husband, hairdresser Michael Douglas.
Unexpected Emotional SupportHer husband was by her side when she received the diagnosis, and she shared that he offered her an unexpected outlet for her emotions when they returned home. 'He was like, "okay, so look, I'm just letting you know if you want to kind of get angry with me or just like, tell me you're angry. Like, you know, I'm here"', she recalled.
Davina, initially keeping a brave face, told him she was 'fine' and trying to maintain positivity. 'I was like, "I'm not angry. It's fine. It's meant to be. I've obviously got to learn something", [I was] trying to be positive, right?' she explained.
Therapeutic Release of Emotions
Despite her initial refusal to admit her true feelings, Michael reassured her that anger was acceptable. Eventually, the rage poured out in a therapeutic manner. 'Then I got really angry, and I got the cushions out and the pillow [punching them] and that was quite therapeutic,' she revealed.
Speaking on Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston, Davina said the cancer diagnosis couldn't have come at a worse time. 'I spent 2025 trying to get over the symptoms of the brain tumour,' she shared. 'It was really hard on Michael and me. It was a difficult year.'
'Then in October, almost two years to the month since I found out about the brain tumour, I got breast cancer. It felt like being punched in the face by the universe. I was just beginning to feel like myself again.'
Treatment and Recovery Journey
In November, Davina shared the news on Instagram, explaining the cancer had been caught 'very very early' but would still require radiotherapy. She recalled first noticing the lump while filming The Masked Singer, prompted to get checked by a sign in the Lorraine studio toilets.
A biopsy confirmed breast cancer, which she had removed in a lumpectomy. Davina underwent a short course of radiotherapy in January 2026, and is now 'cancer free'.
Important Health MessageShe added a crucial reminder for all women: 'But I was very lucky and this is a reminder to all women to check yourself. I found a lump in October last year and I had a mammogram in August.'
'Don't think, "I had a mammogram recently, it can't be cancer," because it could be. Really check. If you've got something, get it looked at. It takes seconds.'
Understanding Breast Cancer
Breast cancer is cancer that starts in the breast and represents the most common type of cancer in women in the UK. Anyone can develop breast cancer, and its seriousness depends on several factors including the cancer's size, whether it has spread, and the individual's general health.
Breast screening through mammograms can detect breast cancer that is too small to feel or see, potentially making treatment more likely to be successful. Sometimes breast cancer can spread to another part of the body, which is called secondary breast cancer.
Symptoms of breast cancer in women may include:
- A lump or swelling in your breast, chest or armpit
- A change in the skin of your breast, such as dimpling or redness
- A change in size or shape of one or both breasts
- Nipple discharge
- A change in the shape or look of your nipple
- Pain in your breast or armpit which does not go away
Davina McCall's journey from diagnosis through treatment to her current energetic boxing workouts serves as both an inspiring recovery story and an important public health reminder about regular self-examination and medical checks.
