The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) have confirmed that certain benefit payments scheduled for Monday, May 25 will be issued early due to the spring bank holiday. This adjustment affects millions of claimants across the UK who receive State Pension, Universal Credit, Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Child Benefits, and other allowances.
Why are payments being made early?
DWP offices and telephone lines will be closed on the bank holiday. Payments are normally processed only when all services are operational, including webchat and Jobcentre Plus branches. As a result, any payment due on May 25 will be deposited into bank accounts on Friday, May 22 instead.
Full list of affected DWP payments
The DWP has not yet formally confirmed the changes, but it is expected to follow HMRC's revised schedule. Payments due on May 25 will be paid on May 22 for the following benefits:
- Attendance Allowance

- Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
- Income Support
- Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
- Pension Credit
- Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
