A father-of-two has bravely revealed the shocking X-ray that showed his organs being crushed by a colossal tumour – leaving him terrified he wouldn't survive.
Paul Murray, 54, endured months of debilitating symptoms before doctors discovered the 30cm mass growing inside him. "I literally wondered how big the coffin would have to be," he admitted.
A Slow-Moving Crisis
Paul's nightmare began with persistent stomach pains and drastic weight loss – dropping an alarming four stone. "I went from 14 stone to 10 stone in months," he recalled. "My clothes hung off me like rags."
Despite multiple GP visits, his condition worsened until a hospital scan delivered the horrifying truth. The X-ray showed his organs displaced by a tumour the size of a melon.
The Fight for Survival
Surgeons at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital performed a gruelling seven-hour operation to remove the mass. "The surgeon told me afterwards it was one of the largest he'd ever seen," Paul revealed.
Now cancer-free, Paul shares his story as a cautionary tale: "Don't ignore persistent symptoms. That 'wait and see' approach could cost you your life."
A New Lease on Life
Remarkably, Paul returned to work just eight weeks post-surgery. "Every day feels like a gift now," he says. His experience highlights both the resilience of the human spirit and the importance of early medical intervention.
