The family of a missing British doctor have issued a heartfelt plea for information as the search for 39-year-old Ruaridh Tanner enters its fourth day on Spain's Costa del Sol.
Dr Tanner, a respected NHS medic from Stirling, was last seen on Sunday evening in the popular resort town of Benalmádena, where he had been enjoying a holiday. His sudden disappearance has left family and friends gravely concerned for his welfare.
Growing Concern for Missing Medic
Spanish authorities have launched an extensive search operation, with police, firefighters and civil protection teams scouring the mountainous terrain surrounding the area where Dr Tanner was last spotted.
"We are desperately worried about Ruaridh and just want him home safe," his family stated in an emotional appeal. "If anyone has seen him or has any information, no matter how small, please contact the authorities."
Extensive Search Operation Underway
The search has focused on the rugged hills around Benalmádena Pueblo, the traditional white village overlooking the coastal tourist area. Emergency services have deployed:
- Specialist mountain rescue teams
- Police helicopters with thermal imaging equipment
- Sniffer dogs and ground search units
- Local volunteer search parties
Dr Tanner's family have flown out to Spain to assist with the search efforts and are being supported by both British and Spanish authorities.

Investigators are particularly keen to speak to anyone who might have seen Dr Tanner in the Benalmádena area on Sunday evening. He is described as:

- Short brown hair and blue eyes
- Last seen wearing a white t-shirt and dark shorts
The British Foreign Office has confirmed they are providing support to the family and working closely with Spanish police.
