Tess Daly's Daily Diet: How She Stays Fit at 56
Tess Daly reveals her daily diet and fitness secrets

Strictly Come Dancing presenter Tess Daly has opened up about the daily eating habits that help her maintain her enviable figure, famously revealing she still fits into the jeans she wore in her twenties.

A Day on Tess Daly's Plate

The 56-year-old television star, married to radio host Vernon Kay, provided a detailed breakdown of her typical meals, emphasising that she never ever skips breakfast. Speaking to the Mirror, the long-standing Vitabiotics Wellwoman ambassador explained her approach focuses on "maintaining" rather than dieting.

Her day begins consistently with Greek yogurt and berries, topped with seeds for fibre and sometimes sliced banana. For lunch, she prioritises protein to keep her energy levels high, often opting for something like a tuna mayonnaise wrap with salad.

"Dinner, I really look forward to dinner," Tess shared. "I make an effort to cook something nice for dinner, maybe tuna in a teriyaki sauce or a roasted salmon with a bit of chili, coriander and lime and maybe some sweet potatoes and lots of vegetables."

The Essential 'Naughty Snack'

No day is complete for Tess without indulging her sweet tooth. She confessed to needing a bit of chocolate on a daily basis, describing it as a little treat that adds pleasure to life.

"I love healthy whole foods but I also love naughty snacks occasionally and I think why not, I love chocolate," she said. This philosophy extends to her role as a mother to two daughters, Phoebe, 20, and Amber, 16.

"As a mother of daughters, I've always been very careful not to demonise sugar and not count calories," Tess explained. "I refuse to embrace any negative connotation around food because I think moderation is key."

More Than Just Diet: The Fitness Routine

Her commitment to health isn't limited to what she eats. Tess also incorporates daily planks into her routine, noting that core strength is particularly important in her fifties.

"I'm also very tall and do a lot of running around in heels, so I need to support my back," she added. This holistic approach to wellness seems to be paying dividends, as the presenter affirmed, "I'm in my 50s, and I genuinely feel I have the same energy as I did in my 20s."

The revelations come as Tess prepares to depart from Strictly Come Dancing after an impressive 21 years as a co-host, marking the end of an era for the beloved BBC programme.
