R&B singer Montell Jordan has officially been declared cancer-free after enduring two separate battles with prostate cancer in 2024 and 2025. The 57-year-old artist shared the uplifting news with his Instagram followers on February 4, posting a heartfelt message: 'I am undetected and healed from cancer. I have no plans for a repeat visit. 2x survivor.'
Initial Diagnosis and Treatment
Montell Jordan's health journey began in early 2024 when a routine Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) test revealed stage 1 prostate cancer. Following this diagnosis, he underwent a radical prostatectomy, a surgical procedure that was reported to be successful at the time. This initial treatment appeared to resolve the issue, offering hope for a full recovery.
A Second, More Aggressive Battle
However, a year later in 2025, during a routine follow-up scan, cancer was detected in his lymph nodes. This recurrence was classified as an aggressive stage 2 prostate cancer, presenting a more serious challenge. In response, Jordan underwent radiation treatment to combat the disease, embarking on a rigorous medical regimen to address this new threat.
Celebrating the All-Clear
In a joyous turn of events, Montell Jordan received the incredible news in December 2025 that he was cancer-free. He described the moment to People magazine, stating, 'Christmas Day we found out that we are undetected, cancer-free. We're finally at an all-clear and I feel fantastic.' Reflecting on the emotional roller coaster, he added, 'Following the ride of becoming a two-time cancer survivor, standing in my home on Christmas Day, surrounded by my kids and my grandkids, to get the call on that morning was surreal. It's almost like it's still unbelievable that we're at this place right now, but we're just super, super grateful.'
Lifestyle Changes and Family Strength
Now focused on maintaining his health, Jordan and his wife Kristin have adopted careful dietary habits. Kristin emphasized the importance of these changes, sharing, 'Everything that we do, we have to do in tandem and in unison in order for it to last. We better take care of these temples that we have because we only get one, right? So for us, those lifestyle changes helped in our journey, but they will help limit us from having other sickness or other issues further down the line.' The couple also revealed that their relationship has grown stronger through the ordeal, with Kristin calling it 'the best Christmas ever.'
Sharing the Journey with the World
Montell Jordan expressed a desire to use his experience as a source of inspiration for others. He told People, 'We want to be resources to the world. We love allowing the journey we've been on to be a public display of God's goodness and of us applying the tools that we've learned along the way to having a great happily forever after that's not just for us, but we wanna share that information with the rest of the world so that they can help preserve their family legacy as well.' His story serves as a powerful testament to resilience, medical advances, and the support of loved ones in overcoming health challenges.
