The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued an allergy recall for Capsicana Easy Going Mild Salsa sold at Co-op stores, warning consumers not to eat the product because it contains undeclared barley (gluten) and mustard.

The recall applies to the 285g pack of Capsicana Easy Going Mild Salsa with batch code 6091 and a best-before date of May 2027. The product is also available at other supermarkets such as Tesco and Sainsbury's, but only the batch sold at Co-op is affected.
Health Risks for Allergic Consumers
The FSA's risk statement explains: "This product contains barley (gluten) and mustard making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to mustard and/or allergy or intolerance to barley or gluten, or with coeliac disease."
Customers who have purchased the affected batch are advised: "If you have bought the above product and have an allergy to mustard and/or and allergy or intolerance to barley or gluten, or with coeliac disease, do not eat it. Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund. No receipt required."
