Princess Catherine has shared a heartfelt Instagram message after completing the Three Peaks Challenge this weekend, raising funds for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, an organisation she describes as “very dear” to her. The princess conquered the three highest mountains in England, Scotland, and Wales: Scafell Pike, Ben Nevis, and Snowdon.
Personal Motivation and Gratitude
In an Instagram clip, Princess Catherine explained her motivations: “Lots of people have asked me why I am doing this challenge and partly it’s personal - I’m so grateful to be here, to be strong enough to walk these hills. But, more importantly, it’s to give something back and acknowledge really, all of the incredible work going on up and down this country.”
The princess was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer at the start of 2024 and underwent six months of chemotherapy. She added: “I’ve met some incredible people - those people who are living with and beyond cancer and I know personally how difficult that journey is. I really wanted to use this opportunity as my way of contributing to all the wonderful work that’s going on and in particular to support the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity - an organisation very dear to me - but who do extraordinary work, supporting those living with and beyond the disease.”
Public Support and Fundraising Impact
Royal fans flooded the comments with praise. One wrote: “Words that heal!! You're amazing, we love you.” Another fan penned: “So many people feel seen. Thank you for all that you share and do to make a difference.” A third commented: “Great! Your strength, grace, and honesty are truly inspiring. Thank you for sharing your journey and reminding us that healing is not just about the body, but also about finding the courage to live fully again. Wishing you continued health, happiness, and many beautiful moments ahead.”
The money raised will go towards improving access to holistic healthcare, as the princess is passionate about supporting the whole person alongside clinical treatment.
Family Support at the Finish Line
Greeting her at the finish line were her husband, Prince William, her three children, her parents, and her brother. The challenge not only raised funds but also highlighted the importance of cancer support and research.
