Dad Claims He Was Served Raw Chicken at Download Festival
Phil Moore, 49, from Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, says he was served 'raw' chicken strips at Download Festival in Castle Donington, Leicestershire, on June 14. He paid £13.40 for three chicken strips and chips from a vendor but discovered the last piece was 'flesh red' after biting into it.
Moore rushed to the toilet and forced himself to vomit to avoid serious illness, while his wife and daughter discarded their meals. He later experienced diarrhea and vomiting on June 16.
Refund and Concerns
After complaining to the vendor's manager, Moore received a full cash refund, which he found unusual as the festival was advertised as cashless. He described the chicken as 'farm rare' and expressed anger that such food could be served at a high-profile event.
Moore said: 'You could kill someone with chicken like that. It's absolutely flesh red. It is shocking quality.' He urged others to check their food thoroughly and avoid eating meat at festivals.
Social Media Reaction
Moore shared his experience on Facebook, warning others. One commenter said: 'This is grim and exactly why I stick to pizza and chips.' Another added: 'Raw chicken is no joke! That s**t can kill you.'
Download Festival and the food vendor have been contacted for comment but have not yet responded.
