Gogglebox star Amy Tapper has revealed her aspirations to start a family following a transformative 8-stone weight loss. The 26-year-old television personality has reduced her dress size from 26 to 18 through a combination of medication and regular exercise, and she has spoken openly about the positive changes in her life since shedding the weight.
Plans for Motherhood
Amy shared her hopes for a child with OK! Magazine, stating: 'I'm four years away from 30 now and things only get harder as you get older. I want to be able to carry a baby one day and not worry about having a dangerous pregnancy. It will help future-proof myself. I know that as I get older, I'm going to thank myself for this.'
Weight Loss Journey
Amy recently disclosed that doctors prescribed her the weight loss injection Mounjaro just as she was contemplating gastric bypass surgery. She has been taking a 15mg weekly dose since February, gradually increasing from 2.5mg. At the peak of her weight loss, she shed 5lbs within just one week, and six months later, she had lost 4 stone.
Despite her success, the significant weight loss has resulted in loose skin, which Amy acknowledges will require surgical intervention. Speaking exclusively to the Daily Mail, she explained: 'Unfortunately and inevitably, when you've lost as much weight as eight stone, and there's gonna be more, there's a lot of skin that is just not gonna disappear with exercise. It's not possible, you know? It's stones and stones of fat and it's now just skin. My arms and my tummy are definitely gonna need surgery at some point, but my legs are actually OK. These little side bad boys are really toning up.'
Facing Criticism
The TV star, who first appeared on Gogglebox at age 13, has faced accusations from trolls of 'cheating' due to her use of weight loss medication. However, she insists on maintaining a consistent workout routine. Amy said: 'I've been with the same personal trainer for five years. I love going to the gym anyway, just mentally, it makes the biggest difference to my week, and hand-in-hand with Mounjaro.'
The scrutiny has taken a toll on her mental health. During an appearance on Good Morning Britain last month, she emotionally remarked: 'I do think of myself as strong minded and whatever they say to me I can say a lot worse about myself. But of course it affects you. No one is super human and I can be strong and confident, but when I've put all this work in, I do just kind of have to laugh about it.'
Anti-Bullying Campaign
Amy has partnered with online pharmacy Chemist4U to reclaim the phrase 'eat less, move more', after research revealed that 7 in 10 people on weight loss medication feel judged. DJ Fat Tony has recorded a new house track for the campaign, titled 'Already Doing It', and appears with Amy in the music video.
Chemist4U has launched a major anti-bullying campaign, backed by the National Bullying Helpline, with DJ Fat Tony and Amy Tapper leading the initiative to challenge stigma around weight loss treatments.
