Ayrton Redfearn, a 23-year-old British man from Devon, was killed in action in Ukraine's Donetsk region on 9 May. His mother, Natasha, confirmed his death, stating her worst fear came true when police informed her on 11 May.
Background of the fallen soldier
Mr Redfearn had joined a specialist unit supporting the Ukrainian army in 2025. He previously served as a Torquay Air Cadet and in the RAF. His mother expressed gratitude for the tributes and support, highlighting her son's strength, bravery, and courage.
Official response
The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office is supporting Mr Redfearn's family and reiterates its warning to British nationals about the high risks of fighting in Ukraine, including death, capture, or maltreatment.
