US Defense Department Accuses Iran of Deception Over Civilian Attacks

The United States Defense Department has issued a stark accusation against Iran, claiming the Islamic Republic has been deliberately misleading the international community about its military operations. According to US officials, Iran has falsely asserted that it only targets military installations during its ongoing conflict with the United States and Israel, while evidence suggests numerous civilian locations have been attacked.

Tense UN Security Council Confrontation

During a heated emergency session of the United Nations Security Council on Saturday, Iranian Ambassador to the UN Amir Saeid Iravani maintained his country's position. 'Iran has only targeted US military bases,' Iravani stated firmly. The ambassador went further, advising the American representative to 'be polite' during discussions about Operation Epic Fury, which involved US airstrikes targeting Iran's nuclear and missile programs.

US Ambassador Mike Waltz responded dismissively to Iravani's remarks. 'Frankly, I'm not going to dignify this with another response,' Waltz declared. 'Especially, as this representative sits here, in this body, representing a regime that has killed tens of thousands of its own people and imprisoned many more simply for wanting freedom from your tyranny.'

Contradictory Evidence of Civilian Targeting

The US Central Command directly contradicted Iran's claims through social media posts on Sunday. 'LIE,' the official CENTCOM account wrote. 'The Iranian Regime is actively targeting civilians and has attacked more than a dozen locations.'

According to US military intelligence, Iranian attacks have impacted numerous non-military sites across the Middle East:

  • Airports in Dubai, Kuwait, and Iraq
  • A hotel in Bahrain's capital Manama
  • Residential areas in Tel Aviv, Israel
  • Civilian locations in Qatar

Photographic evidence emerged showing smoke rising from Dubai International Airport on Saturday afternoon, while drone footage captured damage to residential buildings in Tel Aviv following Iranian missile strikes. Additional images showed shrapnel scattered outside the damaged Crown Plaza hotel in Manama and smoke rising from missile attacks in Doha.

Escalating Military Operations and Casualties

US President Donald Trump revealed significant military developments in the conflict, announcing that American forces have eliminated 48 Iranian leaders and sunk nine naval vessels. The president acknowledged the first US combat fatalities of his second term, with three service members killed and five seriously wounded during Operation Epic Fury.

'We've done pretty well,' Trump commented to The Daily Mail on Sunday, referencing previous successful operations without American casualties. 'But they're great people, with outstanding records, outstanding.'

The president suggested the conflict might continue for approximately four weeks, stating: 'It's always been a four-week process. We figured it will be four weeks or so. It's always been about a four-week process so - as strong as it is, it's a big country, it'll take four weeks - or less.'

Iran's Response and Regional Impact

Iranian officials framed the conflict differently during the UN meeting. Ambassador Iravani described American and Israeli actions as 'an unprovoked and premeditated aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran for the second time in recent months.' He characterized the operations as 'not only an act of aggression; it is a war crime and a crime against humanity.'

The Islamic Republic raised what it called the 'Red Flag of Revenge' and vowed to strike the US and Israel with unprecedented force. While Iran's Revolutionary Guards claimed successful attacks on a US aircraft carrier, CENTCOM reported these missiles 'didn't even come close' to their target.

US and Israeli airstrikes continued for a second day targeting Tehran, as Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi condemned the killing of the country's Supreme Leader as 'a declaration of war against Muslims.' Meanwhile, Israel Defense Forces rescued three civilians at an impact site in central Israel following an Iranian missile strike that killed one civilian.

The UN Security Council, comprising 15 members including five permanent nations (China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States), faces increasing pressure to address what Iravani described as a war against international law and the UN Charter's legal order.
