Megan Thee Stallion Announces Broadway Return Following Hospitalization
Grammy-winning rapper Megan Thee Stallion has confirmed she will return to the Broadway stage just days after being hospitalized during a performance of the musical Moulin Rouge.
Health Scare During Performance
The 31-year-old performer, whose real name is Megan Pete, became ill during Tuesday's performance and was rushed to hospital. Medical professionals diagnosed her with extreme exhaustion, dehydration, vasoconstriction and low metabolic levels that caused her to feel unwell during the show.
In a statement released through her representatives, the rapper confirmed she has been discharged from hospital and will resume her role as Zidler - the owner of the titular cabaret club - in the New York production on Thursday.
Personal Reflection on Health
Megan Thee Stallion shared a candid Instagram post on Wednesday, describing the incident as a "real wake-up call for me." She revealed she had been pushing herself beyond her limits and running on empty before her body finally gave out.
"I thought I was gonna faint on stage, I really tried to push through my performance but I just couldn't," she wrote to her fans, whom she affectionately calls "Hotties."
Commitment to Fans and Self-Care
The rapper emphasized her dedication to her supporters while acknowledging the need for proper self-care. "I just need one day to rest, reset, and take care of myself the way I should have been," she stated in her social media message.
She promised to return to the stage on Thursday, describing herself as "stronger, clearer, and ready to give you 100% the way you deserve."
Production and Recovery
The statement from her spokesperson confirmed: "Megan is incredibly grateful for the prayers and well-wishes from her supporters and is looking forward to resuming her role as Zidler on Moulin Rouge on Thursday."
This health incident comes as the performer continues her successful run in the Broadway adaptation of the popular musical, which has been drawing significant attention since her casting was announced earlier this year.
