Starmer Warns Iran: UK Will Not Tolerate Destabilisation

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has issued a stern warning to Iran, stating that any attempts to destabilise British society will not be tolerated and will face consequences. Speaking at a Downing Street roundtable, he announced additional security measures to protect the Jewish community following the raising of the UK terror threat level to severe after a stabbing in Golders Green.

Iran Under Investigation

The Prime Minister confirmed that Iran is being investigated as a potential instigator of antisemitism in the UK. He emphasised that the government has passed legislation to tackle these malign threats, reinforcing its commitment to national security. “Any attempts by Iran or other countries to foment violence, hatred, or division in our society will not be tolerated,” Starmer said.

Coordinated Plan Against Extremism

Sir Keir noted that antisemitism stems from various sources, including Islamist, far-left, and far-right extremism. The government has a coordinated national plan to confront all forms of extremism. “We are taking a comprehensive approach to ensure the safety of all communities,” he added.
