American and Iranian negotiators have reportedly reached an agreement on a 60-day memorandum of understanding (MOU) aimed at extending a ceasefire and commencing talks on the central nuclear issue.

Key Terms of the Proposed MOU

Under the terms of the proposed MOU, Iran would guarantee unrestricted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, free from tolls or harassment, and commit to removing all mines from the strait within 30 days.

In exchange, the United States would lift its naval blockade and agree to discuss sanctions relief and the release of frozen Iranian funds, with Iran also pledging not to pursue a nuclear weapon.
