French and Swiss 'Wolf Pack' Sentenced for Gang Rape of British Teen in Magaluf

The identities of a 'wolf pack' of men who filmed themselves gang-raping a British teenager in a Magaluf hotel can now be publicly disclosed. Seven French nationals and one Swiss man have received combined prison sentences totalling just over 73 years for the horrific assault on the young tourist.

Gruesome Details of the Attack

The men laughed as they repeatedly raped the unconscious British victim at the BH Mallorca hotel on August 14, 2023. They then shared disturbing footage of her ordeal through the Snapchat messaging platform. The French perpetrators have been identified as Khalil Abderrahmen Mejbri, Romain Charles Michel Galatioto, Anthony Guy Gerard Wengler, Thomas Eric Coretin Wisniewski, Anthony Auque, Satilmis Sahan, and Mouhamadou Wade. The Swiss national is Lucas Haiaiel Ngandjeu Djamen Tchatchou.

All eight defendants accepted prison sentences through plea bargain agreements with prosecutors as their four-day trial was scheduled to commence this week. They had been warned they faced potential imprisonment exceeding 150 years if convicted on original charges before opting for guilty pleas.

Sentencing Breakdown and Evidence

Five of the self-confessed sexual attackers received sentences of either eleven or nine years at the Audiencia Provincial court in Palma, Majorca, depending on whether they committed rape once or multiple times. Another received a four-year prison term. All eight admitted to filming the gang rape, with two specifically posting the footage on Snapchat.

According to court documents signed as part of their plea agreements, Mejbri and Galatioto sexually assaulted their victim, who had been drinking heavily and "fell into a state of unconsciousness" during the half-hour-long attack. Galatioto assaulted her seven times. French nationals Wengler and Wisniewski, along with Swiss national Tchatchou, also participated in the rape.

The plea agreement states: "Each one of the defendants with their mobile phones, during the incidents previously described, recorded several videos... in which they appeared obliging her [the victim] to carry out sexual acts or performing acts of an identical nature upon her."

Detailed recording evidence shows Anthony Auque captured 14 videos totalling 170 seconds, Khalil Abderrahmen Mejbri recorded five videos lasting 142 seconds, and Mohamadou Wade took two videos totalling 26 seconds plus a photograph. The other five defendants recorded on at least one occasion.

Mejbri and Wade specifically shared their recordings through Snapchat "with the clear intention of humiliating and violating his victim." These recordings were made while the victim was semi-conscious or unconscious, rendering her unable to provide consent.

Legal Outcomes and Compensation

Mejbri and Wisniewski accepted nine-year sentences for "sexual assault with carnal access," a severe sexual crime involving non-consensual penetration. Wengler, Tchatchou, and Galatioto received 11-year sentences for the same offence. Sahan admitted to "sexual assault without penetration" and received four years.

All eight men received additional sentences of two years and three months for violation of privacy related to their mobile phone recordings. The eight convicted perpetrators have been ordered to compensate their victim with more than €100,000.

Investigation and International Cooperation

The footage recorded by the men proved crucial to their arrests and successful prosecution. An insider noted: "If the men hadn't filmed what they'd done they could have got off scot-free." Another added that without plea deals, many could have faced life imprisonment.

Two suspects were arrested abroad through European Arrest Warrants and extradited, while six were detained in Majorca. At least six were aged between 18 and 26 at arrest, and none had prior criminal records in Spain.

The British teenager did not need to appear at trial, as her sworn witness statement from the judicial investigation was deemed sufficient. She told police she had limited recollection of the attacks due to her heavily intoxicated state.

Hotel Response and Ongoing Proceedings

The BH Mallorca Resort expressed deep regret and solidarity with the victim, stating: "Behaviour that undermines those rights has no place in this establishment." The hotel cooperated fully with Civil Guard investigators.

Five defendants remain in prison pending a hearing next month where defence lawyers will seek their expulsion from Spain after serving partial sentences. Prosecutors are expected to argue for full sentence completion.

The Civil Guard emphasized the investigation's complexity, noting the perpetrators didn't form a single friend group but joined sporadically during the attack. French authorities assisted in apprehending two suspects who had fled to Germany and attempted to travel to Turkey.
