Sanchez, who was in the city to cover a Colts game for Fox Sports, allegedly approached Tole after the truck driver backed his vehicle into a hotel loading dock. Authorities state that Sanchez, smelling of alcohol, entered Tole's truck without permission and physically blocked him.
Tole responded by pepper-spraying Sanchez, but when Sanchez continued to advance, Tole pulled a knife in self-defense. Sanchez suffered multiple stab wounds to his upper right torso during the near-fatal brawl, requiring hospital treatment. Tole, who was also injured with a deep slash to his face, has claimed self-defense and has not been charged.

A document filed by Tole's attorneys in a related federal lawsuit alleges that Sanchez may have been under the influence of cocaine, fentanyl, marijuana, and alcohol at the time of the incident.
